PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) has conducted the Groundbreaking Ceremony of constructing the specialized port system for Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant in My Loc Commune, Thai Thuy District. Mr. Pham Van Ca, Member of Thai Binh Provincial Standing Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Dang Xuan Thieu, Member of Thai Binh Provincial Standing Party Committee and Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Provincial People’s Council, Mr. Tran Xuan Tuyet, Member of Thai Binh Provincial Standing Party Committee and Director of Thai Binh Provincial Public Security came to congratulate and check the construction progress.
The Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant is an important project of Thai Binh Electricity Center. As designed, the Plant consists of 2 machine assemblies with the total capacity of 1,200 MW whose Employer is assigned to PetroVietnam Power Corporation by the PetroVietnam Oil and Gas Group. The work has a total used area of 131.7 hectares in My Loc Commune, Thai Thuy District with the total investment of VND34,295 billion. The PetroVietnam Construction Joint Stock Corporation (PVC) was selected as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contractor.
Since the 5 km route was handed over to the Employer by to Vinaconex – PVC Construction Investment Joint Stock Company as the contractor, the Project has completed the compensation, site clearance, bomb and mine detection and disposal and site leveling for the plant. Up to the present time, the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant has completed 20.1% of work volume. The specialized port system of the plant under the project is now constructed with the length of 700 meters and accommodation capacity of 2,000-tons vessels. The systems includes 3 small ports: one for coal import, one for oil import and the other for limestone import.
The port system is expected to be completed in July of 2014. The Management Board of the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant continues to deploy the next tasks in accordance with the execution progress and construction quality and engineering. After being completed, the Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant is expected to supply 7.2 billion kWh/ year of power output. This will not only help ensure the national energy security but also contribute to socio-economic development and economic restructuring of Thai Binh Province, the Red River Delta region and the country.
